Cary Elwes, who portrayed terrible agony in the SAW series, was attacked by a snake while dealing to some outdoor house concerns on Saturday, bringing the savagery of the film into his real life.

After being attacked by the snake outside his house on Saturday, the actor is expected to make a full recovery.

TMZ broke the story earlier today. The Princess Bride actress was bitten by a rattlesnake while outdoors in Malibu over the weekend and was taken to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. The bite was significant enough that Elwes required immediate medical attention since it was thought to be life-threatening, but he should be fine and recover as long as he received the necessary care in a timely manner, according to the report.

Numbness in the face or limbs, lightheadedness, weakness, nausea, sweating, impaired vision, and trouble breathing are all symptoms of rattlesnake bites. Kidney failure and stroke are among the long-term negative effects, and this is not Elwes’ first health ailment. He was knocked unconscious and had one of his toes broken while filming The Princess Bride.

Elwes’ upcoming projects include Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon for Netflix, Mission: Impossible 7, in which he has been cast in an unspecified role, and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre at some time in the future, once he has fully recovered. The last film is a spy comedy that will provide as a counterweight to the severity of Mission: Impossible. It was intended to be released in January, but no date has been set as of the reporting of this piece.
