There is a lot of bad news in the world today. Every day is something else and it always seems to be negative. Thankfully, there are sites such as Amo Mama sharing positive stories to provide a light in what can be a really dark world. One of their readers submitted this incredible story about a remarkable young boy and the power of kindness.
Woman follows a little boy carrying leftovers from her restaurant and is shocked by what she discovers.
A small child came in to chat with the cook one night while she was working at her restaurant till close to closing time. It was clear from the outset of the chat that the youngster and the chef were previously acquainted. The chef understood what he was at the restaurant for as soon as he spotted the youngster.
“You got lucky, kid. We have plenty of leftovers today, and you can take all of it home,” the chef said to him.
Christopher, the young lad, was overjoyed. He couldn’t believe he could eat that much and inquired whether there was enough for his pals as well. The chef confirmed it, and he returned to receive the meal, which was already wrapped and waiting for him. Christopher walked away after thanking the Chef.
Alice, on the other hand, was perplexed. The toddler didn’t appear to be starving or in need of restaurant leftovers to eat. She made the decision to wait for him at the restaurant every day until he returned to find out what was actually going on.
Alice and Christopher’s First Encounter
Christopher eventually returned a few days later. Alice softly approached him and inquired whether he was there for the leftovers. Yes, he said, and he suggested she question the cook about the packages. Not to worry, Alice assured him; she’d made sure to cook him some fresh meals today. She then proceeded to investigate why this small guy need leftover food.
“So, why don’t you eat at home, Chris?” Alice asked. “Is your mom sick?”
Christopher went on to tell her that he resided in an orphanage that didn’t provide him with adequate nutrition. Alice’s staff, he claimed, had always aided him. This is why he keeps returning to this location. He then thanked her for the dinner and walked away.
Not The Whole Truth
Alice had a sneaking notion Christopher wasn’t telling her the entire story. She resolved to pursue him in order to learn more about what was going on. Instead of arriving at an orphanage, as she had expected, he stopped at a residence. He tossed the bag of food on the doorstep, rang the doorbell, and bolted.
An elderly woman emerged shortly after to discover the food on her doorway. She returned inside after looking about, as if trying to find out who had left the parcels. However, Alice received an urgent call from the restaurant before she could go knock on the door and speak with the woman. She walked away, still with no solutions.
Alice and Christopher’s Second Encounter
When Christopher returned the next day, Alice was once again waiting for him. She was determined to obtain some answers from the young child this time. She informed him she knew he was bringing the meal for someone else when she spotted him, and he wanted to know why.
“I’m sorry, I lied to you,” Christopher admitted. “But I’ve been taking food for my granny. She’s the only family I have now.”
He went on to say that after his parents died, the courts denied his grandma custody because she was not financially stable enough. Christopher said that she couldn’t afford much food and that he delivers her leftovers every day. Alice was taken aback and realized she had to act quickly.
Alice Meets Edith
Alice immediately rushed to Christopher’s grandma Edith’s place. She told Edith where the food came from and how her little grandson was attempting to look after her. Edith sobbed as she described how much she missed her grandson and how terrible it made her feel that she couldn’t provide for him.
Alice was so moved by the circumstance that she decided to apply to be the boy’s legal guardian right then and there. That day, she went to the orphanage to finish the job. Soon after, the courts appointed Alice as Christopher’s legal guardian.
After that, Alice moved Christopher in with his grandma. She told the reunited family that both of her parents died when she was a child, so she understood the value of being surrounded by family.
A New Family
Edith was overjoyed at the prospect of being able to raise her granddaughter. The only thing on her mind was how she was going to support him. Then Alice surprised them even more.
“I know it might be a bit too much to ask for, but ever since I lost my parents, I have had no one to look after me,” Alice asked. “So, I’m looking for someone who will love me like a mother. I’m hoping you’ll accept the position. As far as Chris’ education is concerned, it’s my responsibility because I’m his guardian.”
The grandma and grandson were overjoyed and welcomed Alice into their small but loving family right away. This is a good illustration of how one good deed may lead to other good deeds. It demonstrates that when you do good for others, good will come back to you.
